Cookies & external media

This page describes cookies, browser storage and optional external media on the public Lie–Størmer Center website. A cookie is a small value a website asks your browser to store; local storage is another way to keep information on your device.

The public website does not set first-party cookies or use local storage for ordinary browsing. You can read pages, search the people directory and filter event archives without accepting tracking.

We do not use analytics tools, advertising cookies, tracking pixels or visitor fingerprinting on the public website. There is no analytics consent or opt-out setting to manage.

Technical connection information and server logs are used for delivering pages, troubleshooting and security. These are separate from analytics. See the privacy notice for the information involved.

Public pages

Public browsing does not require a login or a session cookie. Search and filter choices are carried in the page address. Fonts and site images are served with the website rather than requested from a third-party font service.

Optional YouTube films

A YouTube player is loaded only after you choose to play a film. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player. Activating it still connects your browser to Google/YouTube and sends technical information, including your IP address and browser details. The provider may use browser storage or cookies as part of its service; privacy-enhanced mode is not a promise of no data processing.

You can leave the player unactivated and continue reading the page. Read Google’s privacy policy and YouTube’s explanation of privacy-enhanced mode.

Linked services

Registration systems, university services and external websites have their own cookie and privacy rules. Administrative sign-in services are separate from this public website.

Your browser settings let you inspect, block or remove cookies and other site data. Blocking cookies does not prevent reading the center’s public pages; it may affect an external service or video player you choose to use.

To avoid contacting the video provider, do not activate the player. To stop an active player, leave or reload the page without playing it again. Browser settings can remove data already stored by that provider. The site does not require Do Not Track to be enabled to avoid analytics, because it does not use analytics.
