Room for mathematics

We want the center to be a place where researchers can pursue questions in pure and computational mathematics, learn from one another and teach the next generation.

What can structure tell us?

We study how algebraic, geometric and topological structures can inform computation, and how computational questions can suggest new mathematics.

Theory and computation

Symmetry, order and other mathematical structures can help us understand how computations work and how to improve them.

The center organises its research in six related themes, from Connections and Deformations to Linearization and Polynomials.

Time to exchange ideas

Colloquia, masterclasses and research visits give mathematicians time to discuss their work, share methods and develop questions together.

Learning through research

Through Mathesis, doctoral researchers can take specialist courses, meet experienced mathematicians and work with peers at other institutions. The school connects teaching with current questions in pure and computational mathematics.

First CIMPA fellows complete month of mathematics research in Tromsø

Researchers from Nigeria and India joined the Lie–Størmer Masterclass through a fellowship programme with CIMPA.
