First CIMPA fellows complete month of mathematics research in Tromsø
Researchers from Nigeria and India joined the Lie–Størmer Masterclass through a fellowship programme with CIMPA.
Ngwongwo Ignatius from Nigeria and Yadav Rohit from India have completed a month at the Lie–Størmer Center as its first CIMPA fellows.
The two researchers visited from mid-October to mid-November 2024. Ignatius is based at the Federal University of Technology Owerri; Rohit is from the Indian Institute of Technology Jammu.
Online study, then working together
They took part in the Symmetries in Computations masterclass, which combines online teaching with intensive meetings in Bergen and Tromsø.
Students work on projects in groups before presenting and discussing them with researchers. Ignatius praised both the lectures and the chance to work closely with local students and the center’s directors.
Opening the programme internationally
The partnership with CIMPA extended a programme previously attended by students from Norwegian universities. An increased Norwegian contribution to CIMPA helped fund the collaboration.
The fellowship supports online participation and brings selected researchers to Tromsø for a longer stay.
