Research & background
Jimmy Huy Tran works in mathematical statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Stavanger. He is part of the 2026 Mathesis cohort.
His research includes statistical methods for monitoring changes in survival outcomes using health-registry data. In work with Jan Terje Kvaløy and Hartwig Kørner, he develops cumulative-sum monitoring methods based on relative-survival models, which can be used when information about the cause of death is missing or uncertain.
