Cordian Riener works in real algebraic geometry, optimisation and symbolic computation. His research develops methods for polynomial optimisation and for certifying polynomial non-negativity, including approaches using semidefinite programming.
He is a co-director of the Lie–Størmer Center. His work connects algebraic questions with computational methods, and his teaching and supervision include advanced doctoral training through Mathesis.
