Research & background
Gunnar Fløystad is a professor of mathematics at the University of Bergen. His research concerns categorical and combinatorial aspects of algebra and geometry, including polynomial ideals and simplicial complexes.
His work includes Boij–Söderberg theory and the combinatorics of monomial ideals. His collaboration with Hans Munthe-Kaas on pre-Lie and post-Lie algebras connects algebra with the foundations of numerical analysis.
