About
Gunnar Fløystad is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Bergen. His research focuses on categorical and combinatorial aspects of algebra and geometry, particularly the structure and invariants of ideals in polynomial rings, simplicial complexes, and their algebraic counterparts.
He has made significant contributions to commutative algebra, including work on Boij-Söderberg theory and the combinatorics of monomial ideals. His collaboration with Hans Munthe-Kaas on pre- and post-Lie algebras connects pure algebra with the foundations of numerical analysis.
