Pinar Heggernes

Pinar Heggernes is a professor of computer science at the University of Bergen and director of Quantum UiB. She specialises in algorithms, particularly difficult graph problems and algorithms that exploit the structure of graph classes.

Her research projects have explored how structural properties can make computationally demanding problems more tractable. She served as UiB’s elected deputy rector from 2021 to 2025, with responsibility for education and digital knowledge.
