Up to 3 PhD Positions in Mathematics affiliated to the Lie-Størmer Center

Up to three PhD fellowships across Lie theory and geometry, polynomial algebra, Magnus expansions and signatures, and algebraic and topological methods for complex data analysis.

Expected start: January 2027

PhD fellowship in differential geometry

A fellowship studying symmetry, rigidity and conformal geometry in sub-Riemannian spaces, using methods from Cartan geometry. The position was financed through the Lie–Størmer Center.

PhD fellowship in signatures and rough paths

A fellowship in analysis and Lie theory, studying signatures of curves and surfaces, rough differential equations and Magnus expansions. The position was financed through the Lie–Størmer Center.

PhD Fellow in Mathematics (Algebra)

Research connecting pure and computational mathematics. Focus on monomial/polynomial ideals, toric varieties, and tropical varieties.

Expected start: March 2026

PhD Fellow in Computational and Applied Algebra

Research in tropical and computational algebraic geometry. Part of the Lie-Størmer Center's project on Polynomials, Ideals and Algebra.

PhD fellowship in computational and applied algebra

A four-year fellowship at UiT investigating how symmetry and order structure computation, with connections to algebraic geometry, topology, optimisation and complexity theory.
